Beta-Carotene is a strongly-colored red-orange pigment abundant in plants and fruits, in particular carrots, pumpkins and sweet potatoes from which it is extracted.

Plant carotenoids are the primary dietary source of pro-vitamin A, with Beta-carotene as the most well-known pro-vitamin A carotenoid. Vitamin A is known to be beneficial for eyesight, skin, membranes and immune function. Beta-carotene is also a powerful antioxidant.
